Director (Programmes)

Location: Ahmedabad

Education: Post-graduation in any field preferably in Management, Rural Development, Social Sciences, Environmental Sciences or related fields

Experience: Minimum 10 years of experience in management of developmental programs in non-profits. Out of 10 years, minimum 5 years should be in a leadership role particularly on leading development programs

Skills & Competencies required

    Strategic Thinking:

  •  Ability to develop and implement program strategies aligned with organizational goals. AKRSP(I) is in process to develop program portfolio which addresses the current and future needs of rural communities. 

  • Key Thematic Areas:

  •  The potential candidate must have in-depth understanding and experience of at least one or two thematic areas of AKRSP(I)’s interest. AKRSP(I)’s long-term interest is around climate resilient agriculture livelihoods, skilling & entrepreneurship, rural governance and health & nutrition. 

  • Program Management Expertise:

  •  Proven experience in managing complex programs, including planning, execution, and evaluation. 

  • Leadership and Team Management:

  •  Ability to lead, motivate, and manage teams effectively. 

  • Communication Skills:

  •  Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate with diverse audiences. 

  • Financial Management:

  •  Experience in developing and managing budgets. 

  • Relationship Building:

  •  Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders including donors and government agencies. 

  • Problem-Solving:

  •  Ability to identify and resolve program-related issues. 

  • Fundraising:

  •  Experience in identifying and pursuing fundraising opportunities. 

  • Compliance:

  •  Knowledge of relevant regulations and compliance requirements related to non-profit sector. 

  • Technology:

  •  Must demonstrate the usage of technology and innovations for rural development programs.

Job Profile

    Strategic Planning: Designing and implementing program strategies, program directions, and program performance indicators keeping in mind AKRSP(I)’s mission and vision. 

    Program Design: Designing of Climate Resilient, Community-led and Gender Transformative Programs.

    Program Management: Monitoring the planning, execution, and delivery of programs, ensuring they are on time and within budget as agreed upon with the donors of various projects.

    Program Team Leadership: Managing program teams, fostering a collaborative environment, and providing mentorship and guidance to central office and field teams. 

    Budget Management: Developing and managing program budgets, tracking expenses, and ensuring financial accountability. 

    Stakeholder Engagement: Building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, including board, donors, partners, government agencies, auditors and community leaders. 

    Monitoring and Evaluation: Facilitating systems set-up for assessment of program effectiveness. 

    Fundraising: Partner with partnerships department in identifying and pursuing fundraising opportunities to support program initiatives. 

    Compliance: Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, funding requirements, and internal policies. 

    Technology and Innovations: Ensure that AKRSP(I) is ahead of curve in usage of modern technologies and innovations for accelerated benefits of the programs for the rural communities.
