Project Coordinator-Gender/Agriculture

Location: Wankaner, Gujarat

Education: Advanced University Degree (masters or equivalent) in one of the social sciences, preferably with specialization in womens and gender studies or a closely related field.

Experience: Experience of working in agriculture, rural development, or gender equality programs, preferably in Gujrat context. Experience in gender analysis, mainstreaming, and capacity building is highly desirable

Skills & Competencies required
  • Five years’ experience in gender in development, agricultural extension, agricultural economics, or a related field of social science.

  • Strong understanding of gender issues and their implications for agricultural development, including knowledge of gender frameworks.

  • Experience in project management in the public or private sectors.

  • Must be able to travel field area as required.

Job Profile
  • Collaborate with teams to implement the that promote gender equality and empowerment of women farmers in agriculture. This includes integrating gender-sensitive approaches into project planning, monitoring, and evaluation.

  • Based on the ongoing analysis and assessment, suggest adjustments to the project and make recommendations to develop, improve and/or modify the priorities, the strategies, and work plans of the project to ensure gender sensitivity.

  • Ensure the effective application of the Results Based Approach, and monitoring achievement of results on gender equality.

  • Provide training and capacity-building support to staffs, agricultural extension workers, farmers, and other stakeholders on gender-sensitive agricultural practices, 

  • Engage with government agencies, local NGOs, and other stakeholders to promote gender equality and social inclusion in agriculture.

  • Contribute to knowledge generation on gender issues in agriculture. This may involve documenting best practices, lessons learned, and success stories, as well as disseminating findings through reports, and presentations.

  • Monitor and contribute to evaluate the impact of agricultural programs on gender equality outcomes. Collect and analyse data to assess progress, identify gaps, and inform adaptive management strategies.
